Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, a representative from Summit Nepal Adventure will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in and some rest, you’ll meet your guide for a detailed briefing on the trek and climbing itinerary. The evening is free to explore the bustling streets of Thamel and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Early in the morning, you'll take a scenic flight to Lukla, the gateway to the Khumbu region. After meeting the rest of the trekking crew, the trek begins with a gentle walk to Phakding along the Dudh Koshi River. The trail offers glimpses of the Himalayan foothills and passes through traditional Sherpa villages. Overnight at a teahouse in Phakding.
Today’s trek continues along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several suspension bridges, including the famous Hillary Bridge. After entering Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo, the trail becomes steeper as you ascend to Namche Bazaar. This vibrant Sherpa town is the economic and cultural hub of the Everest region and provides the first real views of Everest and other peaks.
To adjust to the increasing altitude, you’ll spend a rest day in Namche. A short hike to the Everest View Hotel or the Sherpa Culture Museum is recommended for better acclimatization. Enjoy panoramic views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Mount Everest while learning more about the local culture and way of life.
The trail from Namche leads along a scenic ridge and descends through lush forests to the Dudh Koshi River before ascending steeply to Tengboche. The village is home to the famous Tengboche Monastery, the spiritual heart of the Khumbu. You’ll have time to explore the monastery and witness evening prayers with stunning views of Everest and Ama Dablam.
Leaving Tengboche, the trail descends to Debuche and crosses the Imja Khola before climbing steadily to Pangboche. From here, you continue up the valley to Dingboche, a picturesque village surrounded by towering peaks. This area provides a more open, alpine feel and excellent mountain views.
Another day for acclimatization is spent in Dingboche. A recommended hike to Nangkartsang Hill (5,083 m) offers spectacular views of Makalu, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. This gradual climb helps your body adapt to the altitude, and the rest of the day can be spent relaxing or exploring the village.
The trail today takes you through the windswept valley alongside the Khumbu Glacier. You’ll pass memorials to climbers lost on Everest and continue climbing to Lobuche, where the landscape becomes more rugged and stark. Views of Nuptse and Pumori begin to dominate the skyline.
An early start takes you to Gorak Shep, the last settlement before Everest Base Camp. After a brief rest, you’ll trek along the glacial moraine to reach Everest Base Camp itself. Stand at the foot of the world’s highest peak and take in the surreal beauty of the Khumbu Icefall. After spending time at base camp, return to Gorak Shep for the night.
Before sunrise, you’ll hike to Kala Patthar for one of the most iconic panoramic views of Mount Everest and its neighboring giants. After enjoying the early morning light over the Himalayas, descend back to Gorak Shep and continue to Lobuche for the night, resting before the next phase of your adventure.
From Lobuche, the route turns off the main trail and ascends to Lobuche High Camp. The climb is gradual but challenging due to the altitude. Upon reaching high camp, your climbing guide from Summit Nepal Adventure will brief you on the summit push and conduct basic mountaineering training, including use of crampons, ropes, and ice axes.
Summit day begins before dawn. The ascent involves glacier travel, fixed rope sections, and steep snow slopes. Upon reaching the summit, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, and the surrounding peaks. After soaking in the views and capturing memories, descend carefully back to high camp for a well-earned rest.
This day is reserved as a backup in case of poor weather or other delays during the summit attempt. If unused, you may choose to rest or begin descending earlier. Safety and success are always prioritized by Summit Nepal Adventure.
With the summit behind you, begin the descent towards lower altitudes. The trail leads down through familiar terrain as you make your way to Pangboche, a peaceful Sherpa village. This is a great place to relax and reflect on the climbing achievement.
The trail today retraces your steps back to Namche Bazaar. The lower altitude feels energizing, and you'll enjoy the warmer air, green landscapes, and the familiar comfort of Namche’s lodges, cafes, and bakeries.
Your final trekking day takes you back through the forested trails to Lukla. It’s a long day, but with a celebratory atmosphere as you complete the circuit. Once in Lukla, enjoy your final night in the Khumbu with the trekking crew who supported your journey.
After an early morning flight back to Kathmandu, you'll be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for rest, shopping, or sightseeing. In the evening, Summit Nepal Adventure may host a farewell dinner to celebrate the success of your trek and climb.
Depending on your flight time, you may have some last-minute shopping or exploration in Kathmandu before being transferred to the airport for your onward journey. Summit Nepal Adventure will ensure a smooth and timely transfer, bidding you a warm farewell and hoping to see you again for another Himalayan adventure.
This 18-day adventure is a combination of the iconic Everest Base Camp trek and an exciting mountaineering experience on Lobuche Peak (6,119 m). The journey begins in Kathmandu, Nepal’s cultural and historical capital, before flying to Lukla and trekking through famous Sherpa villages such as Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, and Dingboche. After visiting Everest Base Camp and summiting Kala Patthar for sunrise views of Everest, the focus shifts to Lobuche Peak—a technically moderate climb requiring basic mountaineering skills. The itinerary includes acclimatization days and a contingency day to increase your chances of success and safety.
This trek and climb is graded as challenging, ideal for those with good physical fitness and previous high-altitude trekking experience. Prior mountaineering experience is helpful but not mandatory, as our guides at Summit Nepal Adventure provide pre-climb training at Lobuche High Camp. However, participants must be prepared for long walking days, high altitudes above 5,000 meters, and cold conditions. Those with cardiovascular or respiratory issues should consult a physician before booking.
Our team provides comprehensive support including airport transfers, domestic flights, licensed trekking and climbing guides, porters, accommodation, and all permits (Sagarmatha National Park, TIMS, and Lobuche Peak Climbing Permit). During the climb, we supply group climbing gear (ropes, ice screws, etc.), while participants are expected to bring or rent personal gear such as crampons, harnesses, and boots. Emergency oxygen and a first-aid kit are always available, and our guides are trained in high-altitude safety protocols.
The best seasons are pre-monsoon (March to May) and post-monsoon (late September to November). During these periods, the weather is generally stable, skies are clear, and visibility is excellent for both trekking and climbing. While it is possible to climb Lobuche Peak in winter, temperatures can drop significantly and conditions may become more demanding.
In Kathmandu, you’ll stay in a comfortable hotel with breakfast included. During the trek, we use clean and cozy tea houses, and during the climb, we stay in high-altitude tents at Lobuche High Camp. Meals include a variety of Nepali, Tibetan, Indian, and continental dishes such as dal bhat, pasta, soups, and rice with vegetables or meat. Drinking water is available throughout, though purification is recommended.
Yes, altitude sickness is a real risk on this itinerary, which ascends to over 6,000 meters. To minimize this, we follow a well-planned acclimatization schedule with rest days in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche. Our guides monitor your health closely and carry a pulse oximeter to track oxygen levels. In case of emergency, evacuation by helicopter can be arranged.
Yes, Summit Nepal Adventure arranges all necessary permits for the trek and climb, including:
Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit
Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit

A detailed packing list is provided upon booking. Essential items include warm down jackets, layered clothing, waterproof gear, trekking boots, a sleeping bag rated for -20°C, headlamp, sunglasses, and trekking poles. For the Lobuche climb, you’ll need climbing boots, a harness, ice axe, crampons, helmet, and gloves. Some items can be rented in Kathmandu if needed.
