Welcome to Nepal! A representative from Summit Nepal Adventure will greet you at Tribhuvan International Airport and escort you to your hotel in Kathmandu. After check-in, you’ll have time to relax or explore the bustling streets of Thamel. In the evening, you’ll meet your guide for a trek briefing and gear check, ensuring you're all set for the days ahead.
We begin our journey with a scenic drive north through the Kathmandu Valley and into the hills of Rasuwa district. The road winds along ridges and past terraced farmland, offering glimpses of the distant Himalayan peaks. After about 6–7 hours, we arrive at Syabrubesi, a charming riverside village and the gateway to the Langtang Valley.
The trail today continues through lush forest and follows the Langtang Khola as it climbs higher into the valley. As we ascend, the trees begin to thin out and dramatic views of Langtang Lirung and surrounding peaks emerge. We pass prayer wheels and mani walls before reaching Langtang Village, a culturally rich Tamang settlement that is slowly rebuilding after the 2015 earthquake.
Today’s trek is shorter but no less scenic. We follow the river past yak pastures and beneath soaring cliffs to reach Kyanjin Gompa, the spiritual heart of the region. Nestled beneath towering peaks, this village offers an awe-inspiring setting. After lunch, you’ll have time to visit the monastery, sample local yak cheese, or just relax and soak in the mountain views.
For those feeling acclimatized and energetic, an early morning hike to Tserko Ri is highly recommended. The trail climbs steeply above Kyanjin Gompa to a panoramic viewpoint with breathtaking views of the Langtang range, including Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and even distant Tibetan peaks. After returning to Kyanjin, you have the rest of the day to explore the area or relax.
We retrace our steps back down the valley, descending through the same beautiful landscapes and villages. The views remain stunning in reverse, and the descent gives you more time to appreciate the lush forests, waterfalls, and mountain backdrops. We return to Lama Hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.
Our final trekking day takes us downhill through the peaceful forest trails and past familiar suspension bridges. As we descend to the river valley, we pass through bamboo groves and rural hamlets before reaching Syabrubesi once again. Tonight, we celebrate the completion of our trek with a warm meal and perhaps a bit of local hospitality.
After breakfast, we drive back to Kathmandu, retracing the route through terraced hillsides and winding mountain roads. Upon arrival in the city, we transfer to the hotel for a well-earned shower and some leisure time. In the evening, you may wish to explore Kathmandu’s cultural treasures or enjoy a farewell dinner with your trekking group.
Your unforgettable Langtang Valley Trek with Summit Nepal Adventure concludes today. Depending on your flight schedule, our team will transfer you to the airport. You leave with cherished memories, new friendships, and a deeper connection to Nepal’s natural beauty and culture.
The Langtang Valley Trek is a beautiful, relatively short trek located north of Kathmandu, offering a perfect combination of mountain views, cultural richness, and accessibility. Known as the “valley of glaciers,” Langtang is home to stunning alpine scenery, including views of Langtang Lirung (7,227m), Langshisa Ri, and Dorje Lakpa. The trail takes you through peaceful forests, yak pastures, and traditional Tamang villages that reflect Tibetan-influenced Buddhist culture. With Summit Nepal Adventure, you’ll experience both the natural beauty and the heartfelt hospitality of the local communities, making this trek one of the best cultural-mountain experiences close to the capital.
The Langtang Valley Trek is considered moderate and is suitable for both novice and experienced trekkers. The trail is well-marked, and the altitude gain is gradual, with the highest point typically being Kyanjin Ri (around 4,773m) or Tserko Ri (4,984m) for those who want an additional challenge. Daily trekking ranges from 4 to 6 hours, and no technical climbing skills are required. With proper acclimatization and support from Summit Nepal Adventure’s knowledgeable guides, most trekkers complete the trek comfortably.
The best seasons for the Langtang Valley Trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These months offer stable weather, clear skies, and excellent visibility of the surrounding peaks. Spring is especially beautiful with blooming rhododendrons and wildflowers, while autumn features crisp air and golden forests. While trekking is possible in the winter, some areas may experience snow, and teahouses in higher regions may close temporarily. Summer (June to August) brings monsoon rains, which can make trails slippery and less enjoyable.
The standard Langtang Valley Trek takes 7 to 10 days, depending on your starting point, pace, and whether you include side trips to Kyanjin Ri or Tserko Ri. The trek usually starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (about 7–8 hours), followed by a gradual trek into the heart of Langtang National Park. Summit Nepal Adventure can tailor the itinerary based on your schedule, fitness level, and interest in exploring nearby peaks or cultural sites.
Accommodation on the Langtang Valley Trek is in cozy, family-run teahouses, offering clean, simple rooms and shared toilet facilities. Meals include a mix of traditional Nepali dishes like dal bhat, as well as Tibetan-inspired foods such as noodle soups, yak cheese, and momos. Summit Nepal Adventure ensures you stay in teahouses that maintain good hygiene and provide warm hospitality. We also cater to dietary needs when informed in advance.
While it's possible to do the Langtang trek independently, hiring a guide enhances your experience by offering cultural insights, assistance with logistics, and safety at altitude. At Summit Nepal Adventure, we provide trained, English-speaking local guides and reliable porters to ensure your trek is enriching, safe, and less physically demanding. Having a guide also helps directly support the local economy, which is especially important as the region continues to recover from the 2015 earthquake.
Yes, two permits are required: the Langtang National Park Entry Permit and the TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) card. Summit Nepal Adventure takes care of all the permit arrangements, saving you time and making the process easy. These permits contribute to conservation efforts and help ensure your safety during the trek.
Since the trek ranges from warm valleys to colder alpine zones, packing layers is essential. Key items include a good down jacket, thermal layers, trekking pants, gloves, sun protection, a sleeping bag, and comfortable trekking boots. Summit Nepal Adventure provides you with a detailed packing list upon booking and can assist with gear rentals in Kathmandu if needed.
